Connections

Game #11

Mistakes remaining:

How to Play Connections

You get sixteen words. Hidden among them are four groups of four that share something in common, like types of fruit or words that can come before another word. Your job is to find all four groups.

Tap four words you think belong together, then press Submit. If you are right, the group locks in with its category revealed. If you are wrong, you lose one of your four guesses, so choose carefully.

Watch out for traps! The puzzle loves to include a word that looks like it belongs to one group but actually fits another. If you are told you were one away, three of your four picks were correct.

The groups are color coded by difficulty once solved: yellow is the easiest, then green, then blue, and purple is the trickiest. Solve all four before you run out of mistakes and you win.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a new Connections puzzle every day?

Yes! A brand new puzzle arrives daily, and the game menu lets you go back and play any previous puzzle you missed.

How many mistakes am I allowed?

Four. Each wrong guess uses one up, and the dots below the board show how many you have left. Lose all four and the remaining groups are revealed.

What does "One away!" mean?

It means three of the four words you picked belong to the same group. You are close! Swap one word out and try again.

Is my progress saved?

Yes, everything is saved in your browser automatically, including solved groups and your remaining guesses. You can leave and come back anytime.

Can I play in other languages?

Yes. Connections is available in English, German, Spanish, and Portuguese, with puzzles created natively in each language rather than translated.

About Connections

Connections is a word association puzzle about spotting what things have in common. Sixteen words, four hidden groups, and a handful of red herrings designed to make you second guess yourself.

Each puzzle mixes one easy group with progressively sneakier ones, ending in a purple group that usually involves wordplay. The best moments come when a word you were sure about turns out to belong somewhere else entirely.

A new puzzle is released every day in English, German, Spanish, and Portuguese, and the whole archive stays open, so you can binge as many as you like. Free to play, no signup needed.
